Napoleon's most famous horse was Marengo, a small but fast and enduring Arabian stallion originally named Ali. He was named Marengo after Napoleon's victory at the Battle of Marengo in Italy in 1800 and became known for his loyalty and incredible endurance, especially in major battles such as Austerlitz and Waterloo.
